The Centre for Public Health is a vibrant research and teaching community working in partnership to deliver health at local, regional, national and international level. We specialise in applied research and educational programmes addressing health issues at all levels from policy development to service delivery. The Centre is firmly committed to a multi-disciplinary approach to Public Health and works not only with health services but also with local authorities, judicial bodies, environmental services and community groups.

We are organised into seven expert teams working together in order to produce comprehensive answers to research issues and provide broad-based Public Health education: Alcohol Research, Substance Use, Behavioural Epidemiology, Sexual Health, Public Health Education and Training, Environment, Sustainability and Capacity Building and the North West Public Health Observatory.

The Centre for Public Health also offers generic expertise in Health Economics, Epidemiology and Statistics and draws upon a wide range of Honorary Lecturers and Professors based in the Health Services, Government Offices and other public bodies both in the UK and abroad.
