This November saw the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) hold its first event at LJMU. The event saw nearly 80 students from the North west come together to hear about the future direction of the CIEH and how that would impact them as Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs) in the future. Students were addressed by Graham Jukes the Chief Executive of the CIEH, as well as Tim Everett the CIEH’s President. The President’s presentation – entitled “Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll”, – described his own journey as an EHP, touching upon some of the more unusual aspects of work for EHPs and highlighting the key skills required by an EHP. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to network and to enhance their engagement with the CIEH. A follow up two day conference is planned for Easter 2016.
