The Centre for Public Health recently welcomed our new students with an event featuring a series of presentations by staff and PhD students. After an introduction to the Centre by Acting Director Jim McVeigh, students heard from Katie Hardcastle, Public Health Researcher for the Centre, about her work for the violence and nightlife team. Professor Harry Sumnall then spoke about the work that he and colleagues have recently undertaken on alcohol and social media. Lisa Schölin and Yvonne McCormick then talked about their individual experiences of being a PhD student with the Centre and the highs and lows of completing a PhD in general. The event concluded with lunch and networking.
