Save the Date – Social Value Seminar taking Monday 20th October (9am-1pm), Liverpool John Moores University, Avril Robarts Building, Tithebarn Street
In 2012, the Public Services (Social Value) Act became law, meaning that all public bodies in England and Wales are required to consider social value and the economic, social and environmental impact of communities. Social value refers to the added benefit to the community from a commissioning/procurement process over and above the direct purchasing of goods.
This October the Research in Focus seminar will explore the concepts of social value from a range of perspectives. This session will involve a morning of thought-provoking presentations and discussions, including an introduction to social value, examples of where social value has been used in practice, and explorations of how social value can be implemented and used to develop services. Speakers will include researchers and representatives from LJMU, commissioners, and Social Return on Investment (SROI) practitioners. Ben Carpenter (the SROI Network) will also discuss the role of the SROI Network and the resources that are available to support people to measure and explore social value. Further information about speakers will follow shortly.
Refreshments will be provided on arrival and a light buffet lunch will be served at 12.30pm. To attend this FREE event, please email ResearchInFocus@ljmu.ac.uk including any special dietary or accessibility requirements.
