I am a public health researcher working within the field of violence. My work involves a range of issues involving, alcohol, witness intimidation, domestic abuse and club health.

Recent work has involved a situational analysis of a Specialist Domestic Violence Court Programme within the Merseyside area which deals specifically with court cases in which domestic abuse is a factor. I have also travelled to Majorca to conduct questionnaires with Brits on holiday to assess alcohol, drug and sexual behaviour while abroad as part of a club health research project with IREFREA.

Current projects include: working with licensed premises in Lancashire as part of a project to introduce polycarbonate glasses to pubs and clubs in the area; assessing the impact of a witness intimidation awareness project in Everton; and investigating the impact of alcohol prices and drinks promotion on young people and subsequent violent outcomes. I am also working on a number of projects as part of the centre's collaborative project with the World Health Organisation for the Violence prevention website, including literature reviews of contemporary studies into five types of violence - child abuse, elder abuse, sexual abuse, youth violence and intimate partner violence.

My background was as a health journalist working on a daily newspaper, with a specific interest in research and medicine. Before joining the centre, I studied for a BA (Hons) in Health Studies (Public Health) within Liverpool John Moores University. My final year dissertation assessed whether obesity is a disease of epidemic proportions and my research covered binge drinking, sex education in schools and sexual health.
